Day 1: Arrival Paro. Your Bhutanese escort from Himalayan Adventures will receive you upon arrival and drive you through the valley of Paro to the hotel. Sightsee the Paro town, can visit the National Muesuem and Paro Dzong or be at leisure. O/N Paro Day 2: Paro sightseeing and drive to Thimphu. Take a hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery that clings magically on a cliff 300feet above the valley floor. This is one of the most scared pilgrimage sites associated with Guru Rimpoche. Later visit the ruins of Drugyal Dzong, that was once a glorious fortress that repelled the Tibetains. Visit Kichu Monastery and late evening drive to Thimphu. Day 3: Thimphu Sightseeing. Sightseeing in Thimphu would include visiting the National Memorial Chorten/stupa of the late King. Visit the school of 13 arts and crafts of Bhutan, visit the National Muesuem, visit to the traditional paper factory. Later can be at leisure to explore the town to visit the various curio and handicraft shops. Day 4: Thimphu – Trongsa. Early morning drive to Trongsa via Dochula Pass (Ht.10, 000ft), weather permitting one gets a good view of the entire Himalayan range including the Black Mountain Ranges. Enroute visit Wangdi Dzong and can also visit the Chendibji chorten and proceed to Trongsa across Pelela Pass (Alt 3300 m). Day 5: Trongsa – Bumthang, the Switzerland of Bhutan. Visit Trongsa Dzong after breakfast, Trongsa Dzong is the largest Dzong in the country and is of significance to the Royalty of Bhutan, since politically Trongsa Dzong is in the central Bhutan and controlled a large area extending to the plains of India owed their allegiance to the Trongsa Penlop or Lord. Visit the Watchtower of the Dzong and transfer to Bumthang Valley across the Yotongla pass at 3400m. Day 6: Bumthang Sightseeing and exploration. Bumthang is a large broad valley, can visit the various sights that Jakar has to offer, visit the Jakar Dzong, the Jambay Lhakhang Monastery and Kurjye Monastery. Visit the Tamshing Monastery, the Swiss Farm and be at leisure to explore the Chamkhar town. Day 7: Bumthang – Mongar, east of Bhutan. Today start your journey to the east of Bhutan. The drive is one through the least crowded motorable roads offering very good scenery amidst various types of conifer forests. You cross the Thrumshingla pass at 12,465ft which is the highest motorable road in the Kingdom. Can visit the Mongar Dzong and town. Day 8: Mongar – Lhuentse- Mongar Today excursion to Lhuentse, early morning drive to Lhuentse one of the remote district of the Bhutan, vist Dzong and market place return to Mongar in the evening. Day 09: Mongar to Tashigang. Continue your journey further east of Bhutan to Trashigang. You can visit the Trashigang Dzong and the Trashigang town. The only university in Bhutan is located at Trashigang in Kanglung. Day 10: Excursion to Radhi. Today take an excursion to Radhi visit the villages around visit some weaving canters in the villages. Day 11: Excursion to Tashi Yangtsi visit Gom Kora, Set on a small alluvial plateau visit the district of Tashi Yangtsi and Gom Kora. On the way back visit the Sherubtse College (the only University), visit the Blind School and weaving centre. Day 12: Trashigang – Mongar. Early return to Mongar following the lateral route. Day 13: Mongar – Bumthang. Drive to Bumthang, visit Thrumshingla Park and complete sightseeing that has been missed enroute. Day 14. Bumthang – Thimphu. Evening at leisure. Day 15. Thimphu – Paro. Morning transfer to Paro and Hike to Taktsang Monastery and complete sightseeing that was missed earlier. Day 16. Departure.
