Dear Kinley,
Sorry for not writing sooner - we have had a few housing matters to deal with since we got home, and we wanted to send you a copy of the photos we took on our visit to your home.We felt extremely honoured to visit your home and to meet your family - it was quite an experience for us to see how close your family is and to be able to share a meal with you.The holiday we had in was one of the best holidays we have had - the people were so friendly and generous towards visitors and the country is so beautiful and the culture is very challenging for us westerners who are so materialistic.
Tandin and Samuel were both very helpful and did everything to make our holiday a memorable one. Our accommodation was very good, with some places outstanding -particularly in mongar and guwahati. If there is one suggestion i would make, it is to do with plumbing- and bathroom facitlities. Sometimes in quite new hotels there were problems and i think it has to do with the training of tradespersons. For many westerners who are used to things working properly, faulty toilets, showers, are hard to cope with. Having been to , i had experienced hotels where facilities were quite poor, so i had warned John that he might have to accept things he might have taken for granted. We certainly did not have to cope with any thing too disastrous but i could see some people finding accommodation difficult. It would not be such a big problem to overcome- persuade foreign governments (our ex-prime minister Tim Fischer) to help train people skilled in a number of trades such as plumbing, electricity. I hope this does not sound offensive! Your buildings are so beautiful and comfortable that it is a pity to be less than perfect in this area.
We have told many of our friends how wonderful our holiday was and we would hope to visit your country again in the near future. Siegfried (your partner in the biking tours) talked about establishing a resort with a spiritual emphasis - i think that sounds fantastic and i think many people who come to your country would be interested in such an experience. The tourists whom we met were different to the usual people one meets who go on holidays to do as little as possible and who hope to get a good sun tan. There are the occasional newspaper articles about - all of which focus on the peacefulness and spirituality of your country.
Thank you once again for such a wonderful holiday; we hope to see you again.
