In November 2001, Joachim Sauer, once an all German motocross champ visited Bhutan, along with Jurgen and Kinley Tshering from Himalayan Adventures, explored Bhutan from west to the east on a 2 week tour. This was the first time the KTM 640 cc machines set marks on the roads of Bhutan till the east of Bhutan. The trip was organized by Himalayan Adventures.
